This particular colourful sampler is from North Holland and similar ones are pictured in Bix Schipper van Lottum's book, Over Merklappen Gesproken. The sampler was worked from all four sides and contains the typical early Dutch motifs, basket with roses, various hearts and geometric patterns and a number of sewing cushions. Of note is the couple holding a chess board, signifying the game of life.
Unfortunately there is some loss to the letters around the edge and there are a number of holes.
