Ann Rogers-1820
Ann's sampler is believed to be from the New Haven area. She was fifteen years old when she made her sampler under the instruction of Marsey Newberry. It features some typical quaker motifs, ligatures and alphabettes using great colors.
The entire sampler is surrounded by a lovely simple border and the bottom corners are filled in nicely. The half medallions are found on numerous Quaker samplers as are the swan and bird.
This sampler is worked using cross-stitch, cross over one and algerian eye.
