ELIZABETH JANE TURNER (1825)
A charming sampler reproduced from the New Brunswick Museum (67.61). Elizabeth Jane Turner was born on February 5th, 1825 at Hopewell, New Brunswick. She married William Robinson Brewster and died at the age of 92 on the 11th of November, 1917 at Harvey Bank, N.B. Her fondness for birds and butterflies which surround the centrally located house are refleted in our reproductions. She could have been from a seafaring family judging by the boat in the right hand corner. Stitches used are
cross, cross over one thread, Algerian eye, satin, chain, back stitch and
French knot.
